to watch for

As a reminder, books listed on a post titled "to watch for" are books that have not yet been published but whose listings sound interesting. Often, these are books that have just signed contracts and are reported in Publishers Lunch.

Pulitzer winner Joseph Ellis's book on the romantic and intellectual bond between Abigail and John Adams for publication in spring 2010.

Pink Think and College Girls author Lynn Peril's SWIMMING IN THE STENO POOL: A Social History of the Secretary, a humorous, smart exploration of an American icon and a social history of a profession that for decades provided one of the few ways for women to enter the business world, illustrated with period advertisements and artifacts.

Barnabas Miller and Jordan Orlando's SEVEN SOULS, in the spirit of MEMENTO and VANILLA SKY, the soul of a murdered teenage girl embarks on a harrowing, surreal journey, returning to the day of her death and inhabiting the bodies of seven suspects (including her boyfriend and her sister) as she tries to prevent her own demise.

Emily Wing Smith's debut SUNDAY'S CHILD, in six voices about a Utah Mormon community reeling after the death of a popular teen boy who was probably gay.

I will be on the lookout for that. I love Ellis and the Adams.
