The Summer Tree by Guy Gavriel Kay

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe meets The Lord of the Rings as five university students get mixed up in a world of wizards when Loren Silvercloak lures the to Fionavar where they will meet their destinies. Vivid settings, quick plotting, and Arthurian lavor make Kay's book a fantasy favorite. "Immense scale, literary richness, and dazzling heroes," raves the Toronto Sun. The Summer Tree is the first book of The Fionavar Tapestry trilogy.

I'm torn as to whether or not I'm truly interested in this book. I love The Lord of the Rings for its story and writing. I hate The Lion et al for its writing but find the story interesting. So now I guess I just have to see if I can't read a bit of an excerpt from this one.
