house of the seven gables

7.

7 rolls of painter's tape.

Each roll is 60 yards.

That's 420 yards. (Likely less, because we didn't finish off the last roll.)

4 football fields. Hanging on the walls* in my reading room/sitting room/parlor/Swanky Lounge o' Sexiness.

It took 3 days to do. With Dec's help. (Which I finally consented to after it took me an hour to get the first foot of the wall done.)

This room had better be hot.

And I'll never do pinstripes again. Probably. I don't know. They're so cool.**

*I took pictures, because it's one of those things you just have to take a picture of, but I'm not posting the pictures until the room is done; I don't want to spoil the visual orgasm of the Swanky Lounge o' Sexiness.

**I say they're cool now because you have the blue tape on the brown wall, but what if the actual paint job isn't as cool as I envision it? I'm experiencing a bit of anxiety about this.

OOOO I can't wait to see either! I wanted to do stripes in baby T's room, but then I realized how much work it would be and I'm just not motivated enough...

Sometimes, when I'm over by the 690s at the library, I pull the paint finishing books off the shelf and just salivate over the stripe and lozenge effects. It saddens me to know that I will never have the patience (or the steadiness of hand) to achieve them myself. This is yet another reason why I will need to become, against all odds, a rich librarian someday.

Which was all supposed to be a preface to the comment that I, too, can't wait to see the pictures of your S.L. o' S.

[I just took a call at the library from a woman who finished Stephenie Meyer's Twilight last night and CAN'T WAIT the 2-3 months it would take for her to get New Moon through the library. She asked me if I had read it, and when I said I had, she just took it for granted that I loved it. I thought that was funny. Because, really, who reads three books in a series he doesn't particularly like?]

Oh gosh no! It has to be cool. I dreamed it such.

Please make sure you send me the pictures if you don't end up posting them.

It will be cool if for no other reason than I helped.
