Wednesday

midnight

I may have discovered the cause of my irritableness yesterday.

Last night, after Dec and I had finished watching The Broken Hearts Club again (because it was on TV), we were turning in for bed. Before heading to bed, we noticed the outside.

It was lighter than when I had come home from work. It had the illumination of a snowy afternoon.

It was weird.

You don't believe me. That's why I took pictures.

What I find rather intriguing is that these are pictures taken without the flash. Following is a picture I took with the flash (because I initially forgot to turn it off).

Yep. It actually looks like a night photo.

You're irritable because you have bright snowy nights? I prefer to blame it on the rain.

But the bright snowy nights are interrupting my sleep patterns. Because it means I have to actually shut the blinds. And then it's too dark.

You don't normally draw the curtains/blinds when you go to bed?

I believe you. It was unusually bright. I woke up at three a.m. and thought that I had slept past time-to-go-to-work because of the light coming in from my bedroom window. I had to move to my living room couch to finish what was left of my night's sleep because it was too bright to get back into my REM cycle.

I've noticed that as well--the streetlights reflecting off the snow give a luster of midday to objects below.

I remember being fascinated by this when i lived in Utah. I've never noticed it in other snowy places. Do you suppose that's because I was more rural then?

Ah, the pearly light after a snowfall...

...and you probably really should keep those blinds closed. Considering.

How thoroughly disconcerting. Lovely pictures, though.
